Roy's BBQ - Columbia City

Roy's BBQ, barely 8 feet wide, but warm, homey and plenty tasty! Some of the very best BBQ I've had in recent memory. And the eclectic atmosphere speaks for itself!
A "trespassing" sign seems to say "stay out of this kitchen"; "we've secret sauce brewing here"!
Clever nod to the Halloween season with this great carving. Roy's motto is "Smoke 'em If ya got 'em!". Jack looks like he's got a log on the fire to help the flavors come out just right. Did I say how delicious the food is here?

Doors & Doorways

A few more doors and doorways from across the USA and Europe. I suspect you can see how difficult it was to choose "just one" for this months' City Daily Photo Blog theme day. To see any one of these a bit larger, just click the image as it appears and you'll be taken to a gallery of doors and doorways. Buon appetito!

An inside view of Byrnie Utz Hats .... a hatter since 1934 ... located at 310 Union Street, between 3rd and 2nd Avenue, in downtown Seattle. As the hand-lettered sign says, "Handle by brim - not the top".

Pizza Throw-Down winning pizza ...

First place winning pizza in the Aperto, or open, division of the Westender's Scooter Club Pizza Throw-down by Chef Penny of Team Salt & Pepper. And yes, I made the sign so our pizza eaters would know what they were tasting. A very unusual and delicious dessert pizza!

Wallingford Center - outside, then in

I was on a mission the other evening, looking for something my wife wanted. There is an Ace Hardware store located at Wallingford Center, and that was my destination. But, alas, the store had not what I was looking for. However, being ever-curious, I mounted the steps and went up and inside the building that began life as Interlake School. Discarded several years ago by the Seattle Public Schools system it has taken on a new life as a neighborhood shopping center. The shops within are not what you're likely to find at the mega-mall but have a more personal and intimate feel to them.

It has been several years since I've been inside Wallingford Center, and I was surprised to find this wonderful cupcake shop called Trophy - Cupcakes and Party. So, my wife found a delicious chocolate cupcake with peanut butter icing waiting for her when she got home from work around midnight that night. A fine substitute for the salad mixer tongs she was looking for, don't you think?
